Hate When People Text and Drive? So Does TXTStopper
Texting and driving is becoming one of the newest dangers on the road today, and as dangers go, it’s tough to stop. It’s easy to put down the phone when you see a cop around and pick it up later, unlike drinking, where you’re pretty much drunk the whole time. But the TXTStopper is looking to prevent that via sheer brute force.
Rather than allowing you to make choices or anything like that, the TXTStopper simply shuts down all cell phone activity in a car–yours AND your passengers. It’s a 12-volt device that needs to be professionally installed, and will set you back around $200–and that likely doesn’t include installation.
If ever there were a “throw-the-baby-out-with-the-bathwater” solution to texting and driving, this has to be it. It’s one thing to keep the driver from doing such a thing, but to prevent the passengers as well? And what of phone users who use GPS? Makes absolutely no sense to shut down GPS when you’re out driving, especially in unfamiliar areas. And for two hundred dollars, I think I’d rather just, you know, not text.
