Verizon Rumor Suggests HTC Droid Incredible Orders Are Turning Into Motorola Droid X Orders [Rumor Has It That Verizon Is Allowing Those Waiting For A Droid Incredible To Switch Their Order To A Droid X]
The latest rumor surrounding Verizon includes the Droid Incredible and the Droid X. Or more specifically, it deals with a resurge of an earlier rumor in that the Droid Incredible is about to be given its walking papers. Basically, it looks like the end-of-life is going to come for the Incredible, but not because the handset was unsuccessful, but instead because its not available.

Of course, we have head numerous reports of the Droid Increible being out of stock and delayed due to display shortages. Just to recap some of the more recent, as of June 12th the shipping date was reflected as July 12th. I also did a quick glance on Friday and the shipping date had been pushed up to July 20th and as of this morning its showing as July 26th. In short, it seems to be riding the one month to ship time.
Given that, this latest bit seems to make some sense. According to the details, which have come by way of the AndroidGuys blog and one of their “guys on the inside.”
“…they are allowing customers who pre-orded it (Droid Incredible) to cancel their order and get the Motorola Droid X instead.”
Granted, you cannot actually get either handset as of today, the Droid Incredible or the Droid X. Of course, the Droid X is going to be available on July 15th and perhaps more important — is not expected to arrive with any inventory issues.
Either way, I am pretty sure most people that ordered and had been waiting on an Incredible would be happy with the Droid X. Still, there may be some that would choose to wait, after all the Incredible has one thing that the Droid X does not — HTC’s Sense UI.
So how about it, can anyone waiting for a Droid Incredible confirm this for us? Personally I had wanted the Droid Incredible, but despite loving the Sense user interface I am ready to ditch that in favor of the Droid X. In the end though, this would be a slightly disappointing outcome. After all, that would mean an incredible short life span for the Incredible. And yes, I am sorry for the bad play on words, I could not resist.
