NOVO Coloured Glaze HTPC Adds Color To Home Theater

Coloured Glaze Offers Power and Designer Color in One Package

I love home theater PCs. They not only provide all the services of a regular computer, but they also represent what I believe to be the future of entertainment, the home theater. Who needs monolithic distribution points of content when there’s a full day of video uploaded to YouTube every MINUTE? And thus, the NOVO Coloured Glaze HTPC emerges, ready to provide access to that content.

The NOVO Coloured Glaze HTPC offers up to four gigs of RAM and up to 500 gig of hard drive space. It runs Windows XP or Windows 7, which is odd considering that Windows XP was supposed to be pulled. DOS is actually mentioned on the spec sheet, and some think that Ubuntu Linux would be a great addition to this. And graphics-wise, an Nvidia GeForce 9400M is also in for 1080p video, along with VGA, HDMI and SPDIF outputs for the best audio and video transmission.

The coloring, meanwhile, has nothing to do with the function, but what NOVO likely hopes is that offering color choices will make people more likely to hook it to the television in their living room. Considering the growing array of streaming services out there–Netflix, Hulu, and the rest–NOVO’s HTPC may show up in more living rooms than you’d think. No word on pricing or release data yet, though.
