Motorola Flipout Coming Soon to AT&T [Reports Pin Motorola Flipout Being Sent To AT&T Testers, Hardware Specs Leaked For All]

Following up on their first Android phone, the Motorola Backflip, AT&T and Motorola are close to releasing the Motorola Flipout. Like the Backflip, this thing has a pretty unique look to it. According to reports on the web, Motorola and AT&T have sent phones out to AT&T employees across the country and we should see it released on AT&T soon.

These reports come from the folks at AndroidandMe. In addition to the news that the Flipout is coming soon, they’ve also snagged the final hardware specs for the Flipout. They are as follows:

  • Texas Instruments 600MHz processor
  • 2.8-inch screen
  • 512MB RAM, 512MB ROM
  • 3.1-megapixel camera
  • Android 2.1 with MOTOBLUR

By today’s standards of EVO 4G and Droid X – not really a high-end Android phone. If you’ve been following how fast Android phones have been evolving though, it’s worth noting that this Flipout is basically more powerful than last years Motorola Droid – which at once time was considered the best Android phone on the market.

Remember that the Motorola Backflip had that weird hardware design where the lower QWERTY keyboard flipped around and faced away from the touchscreen part of the phone. In a similar vein, the Motorola Flipout is square-shaped and the top screen flips around and sits above the keyboard.

Definitively a unique phone. Anybody planning on picking this phone up when it comes out?
