Dell Streak Being Sold Unlocked In UK [Dell's Android Tablet Selling For £449, No Longer Tied To O2 Data Contract]
If you’re a Brit and had your eye on the Dell Streak tablet but didn’t care to use O2 as your wireless carrier or perhaps just wanted to use the Android tablet on your home WiFi network, you’ll now be able to as Dell is selling the devices contract-free and unlocked, no strings attached to O2 for £449.

The £449 ($675) price is a bit steep, especially when compared to Dell’s promises that the Streak will sell unlocked in America for $500 (£332), but keep in mind that does include the VAT tax. Previously, English carrier O2 had been offering the tablet for free on a two-year deal with tariffs starting at £40.
The Dell Streak is sort of in a weird place between tablet and phone. It’s got a huge five-inch screen and a 1GHz Snapdragon processor. It’s not just a small iPad-like Android device – as it can make calls, too. I’d have no problem using a five-inch phone every day but a lot of people probably wouldn’t – even if it was a hip Android tablet.
I have a feeling we’ll see a lot more Android tablets in this 5-, 7-, 9-, 10-inch range of tablets. We know that Samsung is working on a “Galaxy Tab” that will run Android and will be running in the similar sizes.
Do these tablets do anything for you? Any Brits out there that’ll be picking up an unlocked Dell Streak?
