Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown Arcade Game To Feature Twitter Connectivity [SEGA Adding Internet, Twitter Connectivity To Next Virtua Fighter 5 Arcade Cabinet, Tweet Achievements]
Virtua Figher 5: Final Showdown, the upcoming arcade-only version of popular (in Japan) fighting game Virtua Fighter 5 will contain improved internet and Twitter connectivity, allowing you to boast about your Virtua Fighter exploits to Twitter.

Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown is gaining support for “VF.net” which will be an online Virtua Fighter community. It’ll be able to log your arcade fighting exploits, and we assume, show some sort of stat tracking. Further, you’ll be able to tie your Twitter account into your VF.net account and can Tweet your accomplishments to your pals.
These are a few examples given from Virtua Fighter 5′s game director, Daiichi Katagiri:
DK’s Lau has put together a 10 game win streak at Club Sega Shinjuku #VF5FS
DK’s Lau has earned the “Dragon Wing” item from a Basic Capsule (Rare) #VF5FS
If you fight another player with a VF.net and Twitter account, you’ll be able to see them and their recent Tweets as well, too.
Of course, the arcade scene in Japan is alive and well, compared to the pitiful arcade scene in the United States where seems most people have more experience with the arcade machines at the Pizza Hut than going to a proper arcade. Gaming blog Joystiq seems to believe that this Twitter functionality will revitalize the arcade scene in the US – we’re not so convinced.
