Pantech Jest for Verizon Wireless Specs Leaked, Release Coming Soon
Most of the recent handset hype that has been circulating the internet has largely been focus on one of two mobile platforms, Android and iOS 4. While these platforms are extremely capable and arguably the best when it comes to the mobile experience, there are a good amount of consumers that don’t need all of the added features, instead opting for a simple entry-level handset sometimes known as a featurephone or dumbphone.

These phones are generally quite cheap sometimes even dropping as low as $0 with a 2-year contract and feature things like a slide out QWERTY keyboard, a manufacturer developed operating system, and sometimes a touchscreen. Well, one of the premiere feature phones on the market is the Pantech Razzle. While the Razzle’s specs aren’t anything compared to the HTC HD2, Samsung Galaxy S or iPhone 4, it is a perfect device for someone just looking for a simple phone capable of easy text input. Hardware wise, the Razzle features a twistable QWERTY keyboard, a 1.3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth and a microSD slot for up to 16GB of additional storage.
Seeing how the Razzle has been selling quite well for Verizon Wireless despite the lack of hype, it would have been safe to assume that Pantech would then go on to create a successor for the phone. Entitled the Pantech Jest, this new featurephone soon to hit Verizon Wireless will feature specs that are similar to the Razzle with improvements here and there.
Doing away with the twistable QWERTY keyboard, Pantech has given the Jest a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a 2 megapixel camera, GPS, all while retaining the 2.5mm headset jack, Bluetooth and microSD slot.
The Pantech Jest looks to be a decent successor to the Razzle and a perfect option for those looking for a not so feature extensive phone. While there’s no official price tag or release date, our source tells us that the Jest will go on sale as soon as the Razzle goes out and considering the Razzle is free with a 2-year contract, the Jest will most likely share a similar price point.
