iOS Patch Coming Next Week To Fix Reception Issue? [Is the iPhone 4 Reception Problem In Software Or Hardware? Reports On Internet Say Patch Coming Next Week]
Although an antenna expert said that the iPhone 4′s reception problems are caused by the Bluetooth and GSM antennas shorting together – a lot of people are convinced it’s a software issue in iOS4 and some have been able to recreate similar-looking reception problems on the iPhone 3G and 3GS. Now, a website reports that a patch is coming next week.

CrunchGear’s Devin Coldewey writes (no sources cited on his side, by the way), “iOS update to ship early next week,” and goes on to talk about it fixing the reception issues.
In case you’ve been buried under a rock since yesterday, a majority of iPhone 4 users are able to instantly block their cell reception if they touch the symmetrical slots on the side of the device, where the antenna is.
As mentioned earlier, AntennaSys writer and antenna consultant and specialist Spencer Webb says that this issue is caused when the antennas short-circuit – and he blames Apple’s, AT&T’s and the FCC’s test processes for not detecting this.
Despite all this – many people have been able to recreate the issue on iPhone 3G’s and iPhone 3GS’. By touching the phones in similar places (that have been updated to iOS4), they’re able to create similar issues with the phone.
If iOS4 will be getting a patch to fix these reception issues, we’ll allegedly see it next week.
