HTC Hero, Samsung Moment Not Getting Android 2.2 Update
Some unfortunately news for a few Android users out there. Sprint users carrying an HTC Hero and Samsung Moment will not be getting the Android 2.2. This comes on the same day that Sprint announced that the hot HTC EVO 4G will be getting the Android 2.2 update.

Sprint announced this in the following Tweet via their official Twitter page:
HTC EVO will be updated to Android 2.2; Samsung Moment & HTC Hero will not. Future devices launching w/ 2.1 will be also be updated to 2.2.
That’s all she wrote. Not much of an official explanation. We’ve reached out to Sprint’s PR folks for further explanation of why they’ve decided not to update the Moment and Hero to Android 2.2.
Of course, there’s always the modder community. Reportedly, those at the xda-developers forum have already begun working on patching in support for Android 2.2 Froyo into the Moment and Hero. Of course, not everybody is comfortable using custom ROMs and it’s a bit disappointing seeing Sprint do this.
We’ll update this page when we hear back from Sprint.

Please make an Android update for Samsung Moment or else i will have to Sue.
Brilliant. Let’s not improve the speed of the phones with 2.2 Let’s also make customers who didn’t buy our first 4G phone miss out on 2.2. Another amazing decision! This is where Android is failing. IOS is supported by everything because well…there’s only one device. Android needs to do something about this problem. My hero is not even a year old and we get 1 update? Sprint go **** yourselves. Moving off of Sprint ASAP!
I have had my Sprint HTC Hero for just SIX MONTHS with a TWO YEAR agreement. Only ONE update since (that I waited a very long time for)
Sprint you’re going to lose people like me over this. I’m NOT staying with Sprint.
I can’t believe I choose Sprint over Verizon when leaving At&t. I wanted the new Android phone and went with Sprint, if you guys don’t update to Froyo I we leave you guys the same as I did At&t. You guys are a real piece of work.
