Sprint Android 2.2 Coming to HTC EVO 4G & Other Android Smartphones Soon?
Sprint seems very interested into becoming the first carrier that brings Android 2.2 updates to some of its hot Android smartphones after Google’s Froyo update to its own Google Nexus One. But will Sprint be able to bring Android 2.2 to its subscribers a lot faster than it did with the previous version?

As you already know the Motorola Droid and Motorola Droid X are going to get Froyo in July and August, respectively so that means Sprint will have to offer Android 2.2 to its customers at some point in the following weeks.
Of course the first handset to receive the much expected update is Sprint’s flagship Android device, the HTC EVO 4G but hopefully other devices will also be getting Froyo immediately after.
While there is no official upgrade date for now, the news come straight from a Sprint employee whose post entitled “Sprint expects to launch Android 2.2 in the near future” has this to say:
As work on finalizing the software is under way, Sprint expects to launch Android 2.2 in the near future. It also will be available as an upgrade on the recently launched HTC EVO 4G.
With the Android 2.2 upgrade, customers can expect improvements to include the following benefits: updates to user interface, improved EAS Support, improved browser performance, including Flash 10x Support, voice dialing over Bluetooth and application storage on external memory.
The HTC EVO 4G is already rumored to receive an update on June 28 which is said to address Wi-Fi, Exchange Active Sync and Social Networking Sync. So should we assume that Sprint will roll out Froyo right after this new update comes along? We’ll definitely be back with more news concerning Sprint’s Froyo experience and this time around we hope Sprint will make Android 2.2 a lot faster than Android 2.1.
