Plastic Logic QUE proReader Delayed...Again

Plastic Logic Announces Further Delay On QUE proReader, Cancels All Existing Pre-Orders

Those hoping to be able to get their hands on the QUE proReader from Plastic Logic are in for some additional disappointment. It seems as if they have had a repeat of their performance in March — another delay. And at this point its hard to wonder if this will end up turning into a cancellation.

But before we get ahead of ourselves, this latest delay is pretty close to what happened a few months back, except it happened with less time notice. At least the last time they were able to let customers know that they were not going to make the mid-April release with about 30 days notice.

This time it happened with little to no notice. In fact, units were actually expected to begin shipping as of yesterday. But it seems that instead of shipping notification emails, Plastic Logic actually sent out delay emails.

According to what was sent out, they have “decided that delaying the device a bit longer will result in a better product for you.” Additionally, the orders have been cancelled. Still, Plastic Logic hopes that you will stay on their list of interested customers and wanted to let you know that they will “continue to be excited about the potential that our thin, light and shatter-proof ProReader will offer to business users everywhere.”

So in short, the QUE proReader orders have been cancelled and as of now those who are still hoping to get one will have to wait “a bit longer.” With that we cannot help but hope that when they say better they really mean cheaper. After all, $800 is a pretty significant price tag.

I guess the one bright side to this comes in the fact that they have not offered up a new date. At least this way any and all potential customers can not rise up angry all on the same day.
