eMachines Mini-e ER1402 Unveiled, Available Now & Priced From $299.99

eMachines Unveils Mini-PC, Will Feature AMD Athlon II NEO CPU, GeForce 9200 Graphics & Windows 7 Home Premium

Looking for a mini PC, you may want to consider the latest offering from eMachines. The model is the Mini-e ER1402 and measures in at just 7.1 inches in diameter. But small size aside, there is also a fairly decent set of specs and a rather low price tag.

As for specs, the Mini-e ER1402 comes touting an AMD Athlon II Neo processor, NVIDIA GeForce 9200 graphics, 2GB RAM, 160GB hard drive and the 64 bit edition of Windows 7 Home Premium. Otherwise, you can also expect Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, four USB 2.0 ports, a multi-in-one memory card reader, HDMI out and S/PDIF. There will also be optional accessories available for purchase such as a mounting kit that will allow the computer to be mounted on back of a television or monitor.

In other words, between the HDMI, S/PDIF and mounting kit this seems to be clearly aimed at the living room. Of course, further judging by the press release mention of being able to “stream video content from Netflix or Hulu or watch HD movies comfortably from the sofa” seems to make that point 100% clear.

The one curious part here comes in regards to the weight, its noted as weighing 9 pounds. Sounds a little on the high side, but then again, its not like you are going to be carrying this around with you.

Otherwise the Mini-e ER1402 is said to have an “intelligent design” that provides “excellent airflow around the CPU.” I guess that sounds like it makes sense, after all if you are going to be mounting this on the back of an HDTV you will want to make sure air flow and ventilation is optimal to avoid overheating — especially if this is acting as a media PC and is going to be turned on and running majority of the time.

Finally, the eMachines ER1402-05 is available with “leading retailers” as of today and its priced $299.99.
