New Lexar USB iPad Friendly Memory Card Reader
If you own an iPad and you’re looking to pull files (such as images from taken with a camera) across from a memory card and your camera just happens to utilise SD cards then Apple’s iPad Camera Connection Kit will do you just fine. But what if your camera doesn’t take SD cards? What if it takes, say CompactFlash cards and you don’t want to have to connect up your camera to your iPad via USB to transfer your images (perhaps you may still want to use your camera with a new card)? Well it appears that this new Multi-Card 24-in-1 USB Reader from Lexar could be the answer.

The new Lexar Multi-Card 24-in-1 USB Reader will obviously work with computers but what makes it especially exciting – or at least Lexar’s director of marketing, Jeff Cable thinks so – is that their new multi-format card reader will also play ball with Apple’s iPad (courtesy of the USB connector that comes as part of Apple’s aforementioned iPad Camera Connection Kit) which means that you can transfer files to your iPad not just from SD cards, but from 24 different memory card types as detailed below:
- CompactFlash slot: CompactFlash Type I and Type II
- Secure Digital slot: SD, SDHC, miniSD, miniSDHC, MMC, MMCplus, and RS-MMC
- Mobile slot: microSD, microSDHC, and M2
- Memory Stick slot: Memory Stick, Memory Stick (with MagicGate), Memory Stick PRO, Memory Stick PRO Duo, Memory Stick Duo (with MagicGate), Memory Stick PRO Duo Mark 2, Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo, and Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo “HX”
- xD-Picture Card slot: xD-Picture Card, xD-Picture Card Type-M, xD-Picture Card Type-M+, and xD-Picture Card Type-H
“From cameras and camcorders to mobile phones and GPS units, so many of today’s devices rely on memory cards, and not all of them use the same format. Managing these various cards can be cumbersome and confusing for consumers, causing them to mistakenly think they need to purchase multiple card readers,” said Jim Chan, product marketing manager, Lexar Media. “The Lexar Multi-Card 24-in-1 USB Reader simplifies this process, eliminating the need for different readers and providing the ability to transfer important files and memories from nearly any memory card format.”
And, as for the Lexar Multi-Card 24-in-1 USB Reader’s iPad compatibility, as previously mentioned, Jeff Cable, Lexar’s director of marketing, can barely contain his excitement – though perhaps the bikini clad model may have something to do with his excited state of mind.

HI,
Was the Lexar 24 in 1 card reader tested with the new 4.0 OS from Apple. Most Card readers will not work with the new OS. A pop up window appears and says that the connected device uses to much power.
Please let me know if the Lexar card will work with the new Apple Ipad OS.
Thanks,
Howie
I have the same problem. Some one know what to do?
