Fat Xbox 360s Getting Price Cuts Everywhere
Just a few days after the “new” (don’t call it Slim) Xbox 360s were introduced, it was discovered that as you’d expect, Wal-Mart was “rolling back” prices on the now outdated Xbox 360 Arcade was getting dropped to a $150 MSRP. Amazon and Best Buy are now following suit, as they’ll be cutting prices on the existing fat Xbox 360s as consumers gobble up the new slimline models.

It seems like across the board, you’re seeing the Xbox 360 Arcade models (the cheaper white console with no hard drive and two games) is having its price cut from $199 to $150 while the Xbox 360 Elite model (black model with 120GB hard drive, wireless controller, etc.) is having it’s price cut from $299 to $250.
Microsoft confirmed at E3 that they’ve stopped making the older Xbox 360s. All of their manufacturing resources are being put towards the new slimmer units. Once the Arcade and Elite are sold out of the retail channel – poof – they’re gone for good. As we reported a few days ago – Microsoft will be selling a $199 priced slim Xbox 360, probably with a smaller hard drive or something to hit the Xbox 360 Arcade’s price point.
As for our English friends, gaming site MCV reports that a similar price drop is coming to British retailers. It isn’t clear if Microsoft has set this MSRP lower, or if these retailers are doing it on their own. While American retailers have already recevied new slim Xbox 360s in stock, British stores aren’t set to receive the new slimmer black models until July 16th.
