Apple Sues HTC for Alleged Patent Infringement; You Know, Again!
Just a few months ago Apple sued HTC alleging that the later was infringing on various iPhone patents. HTC defended itself, had Google back it up, even if not with any official legal actions, and then it sued Apple itself.

And now we find out that Apple decided that filing just one trial against HTC is not enough and found more patents which are said to be infringed by the Taiwan-based company. So Apple called up its team of lawyers and had them sue HTC again. This is definitely a fun duel between two important cell phone manufacturers, not only in courts but also in stores around the world.
While the iPhone 4 is apparently the best smartphone available out there to date, HTC is probably the only company that has not one but at least two iPhone alternatives out there, the HTC EVO 4G and the Droid Incredible. It’s definitely understandable why Apple will try to protect its intellectual property, but is HTC infringing as many patents as Apple claims?
The new lawsuit has been filed in exactly the same Delaware court as the previous one and now brings the total patent infringements counts to 22. Apple has included four patents in this new trial but two of them are already part of the first lawsuit. So here are the two new patents which HTC is accused of having infringed:
- 6,282,646 : “System for real-time adaptation to changes in display configuration” by Hendry et. al. and assigned to Apple Computer, Inc. (Granted 8/28/2001)
- 7,380,116 : “System for real-time adaptation to changes in display configuration” by Hendry et. al. and assigned to Apple Inc. (Granted 5/27/2008)
Not only are these two new patents titled the same, although seven year apart, but they seem to be really similar as the newer one is a continuation of the previous one.
So, HTC, the ball is in your court. Are you going to counter-sue Apple again?

Jobs is probably having nightmares of androids attacking! These lawsuits are a sign of Apple’s fear of Android. Apple is not going to stop android any time soon since they have to go through Motorola, Dell, Samsung, etc.
