Apple iPad: 3 Million Sold In 80 Days

Apple has once again released some official numbers in terms of how many iPads they have sold. In short, they have crossed the 3 million mark. And while that number alone is pretty impressive it gets better when you learn that they have taken just 80 days to do so.

Bringing the overall sales back for a moment, it was May 3rd when Apple announced they had sold the first million and May 31st when they crossed the 2 million mark. That means Apple has now once again sold a million iPads in under a months time, which is based of the first million coming in 28 days and the second million even quicker.

And on top of that, its likely that the sales will be high for the foreseeable future because Apple is about to expand the international sales once again. According to the details in the press release, the iPad will be available in nine more countries next month.

In addition to sales of the iPad it was also noted that there are over 11,000 iPad specific apps that have been created and are available for download. Nothing was specified in terms of how many app downloads they are serving up each day, but with sales as high as they are the apps are likely to be seeing equally impressive numbers.

Interestingly enough, there was one part of the ever-so-short press release that made me chuckle a bit.

“People are loving iPad as it becomes a part of their daily lives,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO.

Of course, the chuckle comes in that fact that this is entirely accurate for me. In fact there seems to rarely be a time when the iPad is not within a few feet of me. With 100% accuracy — it has become part of my daily live. And sadly enough, almost to the point where it feels strange to not have it handy, but then again it works for me on so many levels, I check my email, check Twitter, watch movies, read books, read magazines, listen to music, watch and listen to podcasts, surf the web and more.
