New iPad Gmail Interface Now Available

Besides iOS 4, which is basically the main event of today, there are plenty of hot things happening in the tech world at the same time. We’ve seen plenty of news hit the wires today and we have even more new stuff for you. We talked nook, Kindle, Nintendo 3DS and Android alongside iPhone 4 today and it’s time to look at a Google official announcement made just a few hours ago.

And while Google is slowly but surely left out the iPhone OS universe, iOS users will still rely on various Google apps when using their new mobile devices from Apple. One such app is Gmail which has been completely redesigned to better fit the needs of iPad users. As you already know, Apple is estimated to sell around 1.2 million iPad units per month and that number is only going up. Lots of them are surely Gmail users and they will definitely want to take advantage of Google’s Gmail app for the iPad.

The Gmail app for iPad is a completely redesigned email app meant to help you enjoy that touch-friendly interface to the fullest. And Google is offering you, starting today, a new compose interface on the iPad which will surely be more than welcomed. Instead of having the screen split in two between your inbox and the compose view, you now get a “big full screen compose window” like in the picture above.

The only downside of this new feature is the fact that it’s available only in US English for now, but Google will definitely fix that in the upcoming versions of its Gmail web app.

Google is probably going to come up with new Gmail updates for the iPad in the near future and they’re all based on the feedback received from Gmail for iPad users.
