New Xbox 360 Slim Priced at $199; Xbox 360 & Kinect (Project Natal) Bundles Coming Soon?

Microsoft Confirms New Xbox 360 Prices & Suggests Xbox 360 & Kinect (Project Natal) Bundles

If there’s one thing to hate about this new Xbox 360, which we’ve extensively covered here at TFTS so far, is the name of the thing. How should we refer to the new Xbox 360 other than the “new Xbox 360”? It’s not the Xbox 360 Slim or Slimmer although we keep calling it that. But it doesn’t have any other name either which is a bit weird for consumers.

New Xbox 360 Elite Xbox Slim with Box

As you already know, the new console from Microsoft is available for pre-order for $299.99, but that doesn’t mean other alternatives aren’t going to be available soon. It has recently been revealed that the new Xbox 360 will be available for as low as $199 at some point in fall. The news comes from an internal marketing Q&A session from Microsoft and it’s about to get even better.

The Kinect, the artist formerly known as Project Natal, will apparently be available bundled with the new Xbox 360, just as we initially expected. So far we don’t have the official Kinect pricing scheme although it’s believed that an Arcade bundle including it will cost $299 while an Elite bundle will naturally go up to $399. The Kinect by itself is probably going to cost $149 initially, which is not exactly what we have been told before it will cost.

This new Xbox 360 console priced at $199 is surely the Arcade version of the new system although Microsoft is apparently very secretive about it. All it’s officially known is a simple answer to an even simpler question:

Q: Will you sell a $199 version of the new Xbox 360?
A: We will offer a $199 Xbox 360 this fall.

We expect the new Arcade Xbox 360 version to be stripped down of some important features like the generous 250GB hard drive or the built-in Wi-Fi. Have you already pre-ordered your new Xbox 360 or are you still waiting to see what new bundle packages Microsoft will get ready to throw at consumers this fall (we expect some games to be included too)?

will the new xbox 360 have red rings of death? i hope not because this is my last chance to accept xbox 360 in my heart lol, or i’ll forever be a ps3 fanboy! ps3>360 anyway i just want the new xbox 360 because it has 250gb hdd and wi fi! microsoft just copied sony!

    2. John says:

The new Xbox 360 has much of the same problems as the old. They made it smaller and changed it’s look. Disks still scratch and red light of death(over heating, I thought they took out the red lights?). They forgot that a hard drive also puts off heat inside the box. I have both systems now and each has some good and bad. I am going to wait until they get all the bugs out of the 360 before I buy one. They are coming up but have yet to reach Sony. Sorry MS.

    3. Ricky says:

John, they do not have the red light of death(yes they took out the red lights). Its now called Red Dot of Death. Which is the same problem as the other xbox 360. And no its the other way around.Sony hasn’t reached up to MS. Do they make softwares? No. Do they charge a price just cause you got your ylod? Yes. Do you have warranty? No. This is why MS is FAR BETTER than sony. So I wouldn’t be talking John you, fanboy.

    4. Nick says:

I have both a PS3 and the new Xbox, I like both consoles a lot but for now I prefer the ps3 Ive had since 07. The new xbox is very cool, I like it but I, like many, many others, have trouble trusting microsoft with their xbox issues, does the new one have any big problems I should worry about? its frozen twice, which isnt a big deal since my ps3 has frozen many times, but when I play halo 2, I get a sort of “after image“ of the last cut scene that chills in the background when I can start playing again, to stop this I need to quit and then resume. Kind of annoying but Im more worried that it is a more serious problem. thanks.

    5. justin says:

man i sure hope this thing doesnt fucking die on me like the last 3 i bought did cause its starting to piss me off damn rings of death

    6. shot gun is fun says:

ricky and jhon are fanboys lol. i have ps3 but i think there both cool anyway i want both though to have all games i want :0???

    7. Moron says:

Lets just say, that they are both better than the wii.

    8. Gamer335 says:

Lmao! Very true moron, I have owned all systems except for the ps3. I have owned both the play station and the ps2 and both Xbox consoles as well. I’ve enjoyed them all the same. As of right now I’m considering back and forth between the ps3 and new 360 and I’m not sure wich to get. I’ve done tons of reading and any idiot can tell you ” oh the Xbox blows!! the ps3 is way better”. But what do they know ? Of course the owner of one of them instead of both will go against the one they don’t own. As of right now I’m still not sure on wich to get . The Xbox has a way more vast online community by far and sells a lot more than the ps3. It sold a few million last year while the ps3 only sold 750,000 . The Xbox also has been said to have a majority of better graphics , sure alot complain about the Internet fee… It’s only 50 dollars a year. If your going to complain about that then why buy a gaming console in the first place for hundreds of dollars ? The ps3. On the other hand has some sweet features such as the Blu ray player. And also having the option to play 3D games and watch 3D movies. But I’m not about to pay more for a GAMING system just To watch movies … And Everybody is worried about the infamous rings of death , no the new Xbox does not have this problem anymore as far as I’ve read. Does anyone remember a certain hacking not to long back, the ps3 also has flaws and you know that’s true when something as advanced as Sony let’s their system get hacked . It’s up and down with both game systems and its really the consumer who should decide wich console fits them. I guess I’ll figure that out when I make my option soon. But like moron said lets all agree they both smoke the wii and all other gaming consoles lol
