Digital Storm Unwraps SPECIAL|OPS Desktop Line
Many enthusiast PC gamers enjoy building their own systems. Others don’t, or some like to start with a pre-built high-end machine from one of the boutique manufacturers. The folks at Digital Storm are relative newcomers compared to old timers like Falcon Northwest and Alienware, but they’re making a name for themselves. They just introduced a new line of desktops, SPECIAL|OPS.

Here’s a run down of the three base configurations in the SPECIAL|OPS line.
Elite 310 – $987
- AMD Phenom X6 2.8Ghz
- 4GB DDR3
- NVIDIA GT 220 1GB
- 500W PSU
Ironclad – $1,537
- Intel Core i7 2.8Ghz
- 6GB DDR3
- NVIDIA GTX 470 1.2GB
- 750W PSU
HAF X – $1,807
- Intel Core i7 2.8GHz
- 6GB DDR
- NVIDIA GTX 480 1.5GB
- 750W PSU
All systems will come with Windows 7 and have been stress tested in Digital Storm’s labs for 72-hours. Because of the launch of the SPECIAL|OPS line, they’re offering free factory overclocking on all their machines (up to 3.9GHz – though they’re saying the max speed is dependent on the processor, and rightly so). Each machine will have two choices of case chassis for you to choose from, one dubbed HailStorm, the other Assassin.
From the press release, Digital Storm’s Director of Product Development says:
“Our SPECIAL|OPS systems receive the same level of attention, with respect to the quality build and stringent testing procedures, as our Black|OPS systems; they truly represent a phenomenal value for the price,” commented Rajeev Kuruppu, Digital Storm’s Director of Product Development. “To be the predominant name in system integration means that we not only lead the industry with bleeding-edge rigs, but that we also offer systems for gamers of every budget. Our new SPECIAL|OPS line is the ultimate solution for gamers who want incredible performance and the most bang for their buck.”
