Where to buy an iPhone 4? Try eBay.
Where do the “Haves” go when they have something the “Have-Nots” want? eBay, of course. Like what happened with the iPad – a large number of iPhone 4s have shown up on the auction site, catering to those who weren’t able to get a pre-order in fast enough during the great Apple/AT&T Server Crunch of 2010. But the phones are being sold at a tremendous markup – as you’d expect.

As I’m sure you’ve heard, those who order an iPhone 4 right now from either AT&T or Apple can expect to get their devices in over a month, as they’re set to start shipping on July 14th. eBay’s got your back. iPhone 4s have filled eBay. The cheapest model is around $500 for a $199 16 GB model. TechCrunch reports that the cheapest 32 GB model will set you back around $700, which is a $500 mark-up from the retail price.
There are some more extravagant prices out there, as well. Several have already been listed (and sold) for prices over $1,000 (and one over £1,000). One seller (insane or brilliant, depending on how you look at it) is asking $5,000 for his 32 GB model, and he’ll fly to wherever you live and hand deliver it to you. Really, quite reasonable if you count his travel costs. We’ll have to keep our eyes peeled to see if somebody takes him up on that one. Of course, if you buy an iPhone 4 for $5,000, just be sure to watch your front door for Apple Police to come knocking… (topical tech humor).
Any iFans considering ordering an iPhone 4 through eBay? Or are you just going to wait it out until mid-July?
