Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 Specs, Features & Release Dates Now Official
Just the other day we told you that Sony Ericsson has fully acknowledged the “Shakira” as the Xperia X8 and today we have the official press release that reveals specs, features, pricing details and release dates for the X8.

The Xperia X8 seems to be the perfect phone to make the transition from the Xperia X10 to the Xperia X10 mini. The handset looks pretty nice in those press shots there and it seems Sony Ericsson is getting better and better at building Android devices. One thing we don’t like though is that the Xperia X8 will also come with Android 1.6 on board. Come on, Sony Ericsson, we expect at least Android 2.1 from you, although we know that only Q3 will bring that update to Xperia Android handsets.
So let’s see what the X8 will offer you in terms of specs and features:
- 3-inch capacitive touchscreen display with 320×480 HVGA resolution
- UMTS HSPA 900/2100 MHz & UMTS HSPA 800/1900/2100
- GSM GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
- 600MHz unspecified processor
- 3.2-megapixel camera with video recording, Facebook picture upload support and geo-tagging
- Bluetooth stereo and Wi-Fi connectivity
- AGSP
- 3.5mm headset jack
- Micro USB connector
- 1200mAh battery
- Up to 128MB of memory
- 2GB microSD card in the box
- support for up to 16GB memory upgrade via microSD cards
- Android 1.6 with Timescape
- Google Services: Gmail, Calendar, Latitude, Maps with Street View, Search, Talk, YouTube
- Social networking support
- Colors: white, dark blue/white, aqua blue/white, pink/white, silver/white
- Interchangeable covers
- Size: 99 x 54 x 15 mm
- Weight: 104g
As you can clearly see, the X8 is not Sony Ericsson’s next flagship phone but it’s definitely a dependable device. The phone is expected to hit various markets in Q3 2010 and it will cost around €259 which is probably the unlocked price. Bundle the phone with a new 2-year contract and you’ll definitely get the Xperia X8 almost for free with most carriers. Anyone interested in the X8?
