New Verizon Motorola Droid to be Unveiled on June 23?

We already know that Motorola is preparing new Droid handsets for Verizon. The Droid X and the Droid 2 are coming this summer to Big Red and it looks like Verizon has already scheduled an important Droid press event on June 23.

“The Next Generation of Droid” is the name of the special event and it looks like Verizon wants to definitely overshadow the official iPhone launch date which is scheduled for June 24. As you already know the iPhone 4 pre-order process is already a huge success. Apple ran out of available iPhone 4 units for both the USA and the UK and we can only expect lots of lines on June 24 as more people will try to get the device in a store on day launch.

Will Verizon succeed in its obvious plan to convince some iPhone 4 potential customers not to go to AT&T? The special Verizon-Motorola press event will show Android fans the “latest generation of Droid by Motorola from Verizon Wireless.” And I’m sure it will capture our attention especially after we’ve seen and heard about the Droid X and the Droid 2 in the last couple of weeks.

Besides the new phones that are going to be showcased on June 23, we’ll also have various important names in the mobile business. Among the speakers we will find John Stratton, executive vice president and chief marketing officer for Verizon Wireless, Andy Rubin, vice president of engineering for Google, Sanjay Jha, co-chief executive officer for Motorola and, last but not least, Shantanu Narayen, chief executive officer for Adobe.

June 23 already looks like an important date in Verizon’s and Motorola’s calendar and we’ll definitely bring you all the hot stuff from the press event as it will happen. But let’s hear it from potential Android/iPhone customers. What would you rather buy this June? The iPhone 4 or a new Motorola Droid?
