E3 2010: Microsoft Video Kinect To Offer Video Chat To Multiple Devices
Microsoft’s Kinect isn’t just for games. At their E3 presser, Microsoft just announced that Kinect can be used to communicate with friends. A service called “Video Kinect” will allow you to chat with friends and family, who don’t have to be using an Xbox 360, as it’ll allow video chat with Windows Phone and Windows Messenger folks as well.

The microphone in the Kinect bar doesn’t require users to use any sort of headphone. Those who are using the Kinect bar also will have the bar automatically tack them across the shot, so you don’t need to manually readjust it.
As you can see in the picture above, there are Bing tags below (“News, Sports, TV, Movies, Music”). Any video content in there can be watched with a friend, in video chat. The example they gave was watching a movie trailer with a friend.
Video chat is becoming more and more notable, with the iPhone 4 having it and some internet-connected TVs coming with Skype connectivity. We’ll have to see how people adapt to this stuff.
TFTS is covering all the live event stuff for this E3. Stay on our page for more details.
