The Apple iPad is Big in Japan

The iPad Follows the Footsteps of the iPhone Helping Apple Gain a Better Market Share of the Notebook Segment

It is not surprising to find the Apple iPad being a hit in Japan as well. Considering the rapport it has been getting, who would be? Following the footsteps of the iPhone which enjoyed overwhelming success, Apple has duplicated the feat by moving up in the domestic notebook market. This May alone, the iPad has tripled its share, improving to 11.5% from a measly 3.5% in April.

The Apple iPad officially launched in May 28 and has moved ahead of Sony who had only 9.5% of the market share. Now at 4th behind Toshiba, Fujitsu and NEC, the iPad is expected to overtake these leaders as their share is reportedly plummeting (based on data collected by Tokyo market research firm BCN).

And to top it all off, the iPad is said to be selling three times faster than the iPhone, a familiar trend we have seen worldwide. So if the iPad does end up being number one, do not be surprised to find them sitting pretty at the top. They have already proven that in most regions of the world and now they are certainly making it big in Japan.
