With all of the buzz running rampant lately over the new features finding their way into mobile phones like faster processors, higher resolution displays and better cameras there is one in particular that has been receiving a considerable amount of buzz. The feature in question is front facing cameras – something iPhone users have been asking for since the first iPhones release. Regardless if you’re a fan of video calling or not, there’s something about having the ability to video chat in the palm of your hand that makes the future feel a whole lot closer.

Two of the hottest devices that everyone has been talking about are the HTC EVO 4G and, of course, the iPhone 4. Both devices have front facing cameras for video chatting (with the EVO 4G’s being 1.3 megapixel and the iPhone 4′s being VGA) but if you go back in time just a short while you’ll hvae seen Motorola’s own DROID getting talked about quite a bit.

When the DROID first hit the scene people began talking about Motorola finally coming back from their down days and returning to greatness (kind of like when EVERYONE had a RAZR). Other phones have come out since the DROID’s release and still sales numbers are strong but according to Motorola’s CEO Sanjay Jha, the company can be doing much more.

For one, despite never being a fan of video calling, Jha says that Motorola definitely needs to add front facing cameras into their future devices if they want to keep up with ahndsets like the EVO 4G and iPhone 4.

I can’t help but think the whole video chatting thing is just a bit gimmicky. Sure, it’s cool to be able to do it but do people actually use it on a regular basis? Furthermore, is the feature important enough that it would keep you from buying a phone that wasn’t able to do it?
