2GHz Motorola Android Handset Coming Out in 2010?

Motorola Wants to Launch 2GHz Android Smartphone by the End of the Year; We’re Intrigued

Just earlier today we found out that Motorola’s CEO is very interested in selling as many Droid units as humanly possible. We advised Moto to focus on future Android handsets instead no matter if they’re going to come with front-facing cameras on board or not.

And it looks like Motorola has some big plans for the remainder of the year and we’re definitely interested to see them get accomplished. Motorola’s CEO, Sanjay Jha, wants to sell Android fans a 2GHz Moto Android phone by the end of 2010. That’s what he was also talking about yesterday at the Executive Club in Chicago, but can such a phone actually be made right now?

Just recently we’ve seen Qualcomm announce its new 1.2GHz chips which will equip various hot smartphone by the end of the year. But who will make that 2GHz processor that Motorola wants to place inside a very hot Android smartphone?

Sure at some point in the near future 2GHz chips for mobile devices will be available left and right, but who’s going to make one right now? It looks like one other unnamed yet Moto executive said that the company will offer an Android device that will bring you everything that’s “technologically possible” in a smartphone today: gyroscope, Nvidia Tegra-based graphics processor, Flash 10.1 hardware acceleration, at least 5-megapixel camera, 720p HD video output and HD screen resolution.

Now that’s definitely a phone that’s worth waiting for, and a handset that could compete very well against the HTC EVO 4G and the iPhone 4. Unfortunately we can really confirm any of the details above just yet. Sure Motorola talks the talk but we’d love to see it walk the walk as soon as possible.

After all I imagine they started building this thing a long way before seeing Steve Jobs unveil the iPhone 4 since everyone, and their mother, knew almost everything there was to know about the next-gen iPhone’s capabilities months before the actual WWDC 2010 keynote took place.

Would you wait for a 2GHz Motorola Android smartphone unicorn or will you get the HTC EVO 4G right now?
