Western Digital WD TV Live Plus HD Media Player Announced

WD TV Live Plus HD Media Player Gives Users Yet Another Way To Enjoy Netflix, YouTube, Flickr & Pandora On Their Living Room Television

Western Digital has officially announced their latest home media player device, which given the Plus in the name seems to serve as an update to the previously available TV Live HD. Anyway, the newly announced device has been dubbed the WD TV Live Plus HD Media Player and it seems as if the main addition is support for Netflix.

Yup, those interested now have yet another option for streaming Netflix watch instantly content on their television. Don’t get me wrong, I love Netflix and watch often. In the past I used a Roku, but have since moved onto using the Wii. But I digress and while my excitement level for another Netflix capable device may be low, I suppose there is a Western Digital fanboy (or girl) somewhere who is super excited right now.

That said, onward with the details for the WD TV Live Plus HD Media Player. Like I mentioned, the device offers support for Netflix, however there is also the other regular suspects for content including YouTube, Flickr, Pandora, Live365 and MediaFly.

Of course, there is more to this than just streaming content. The WD TV Live Plus will also allow the user to watch content they have stored on a Mac or PC as well as portable USB drive or network attached storage device that resides on the same network. Plus Windows 7 users are able to use the ‘Play To’ feature to begin and control the playback directly from their computer.

Other perks include that the WD TV Live Plus is 1080p capable, has two USB ports, one Ethernet port and is wireless ready. Though, that was wireless READY, which means if you want to go wireless you will need to purchase the optional USB wireless adapter.

Finally, the WD TV Live Plus is currently available and selling for $149.99.
