WWDC 2010: iPhone 4 Camera with HD Video Recording Confirmed

iPhone 4 to offer 720p HD Video Capture, Tap to Focus, Video Editing Built in

We knew that Apple would have to up their game in terms of the new iPhone 4’s imaging capabilities and now we have the detail we were looking for concerning just what the iPhone 4 will deliver in terms of stills and video capture – and, I’ll be honest here, its disappointing news.

The new iPhone 4 will sport a 5 megapixel camera which may well be suited to the likes of YouTube and mailing videos to your mates but is hardly on par with what camera phones (hell, look back at the Satio) have already offered us and, in this respect, the iPhone 4 is pretty disappointing.

Still, you can count on 720p HD video capture capabilities (hardly anything new or especially spectacular, but lets run with it for now and the new iPhone will alos come with tap to focus (okay, again, hardly revolutionary) and, yes, it’ll boast buil;t-in video editing capabilities.

Of course, quite how well video editing to any major degree will work on the new iPhone 4’s display is up for question.

Oh, and HDMI output? There’s no evidence of it yet as we watch the keynote.
