Samsung Restore to Hit Sprint on June 6th
Late last month we let you know that the Samsung Restore was coming to Sprint sometime this month but while we had the month of release for you, we did not know the exact date. Luckily, Sprint has come forth today to announce that the Samsung Restore will be hitting their carrier on Sunday, June 6th.

If you’re looking for a device that is going to go up against devices like the iPhone or the recently released EVO 4G you’re definitely looking at the wrong device as the Samsung Restore is not it. However, if you’re looking for a phone that is enivromentally friendly in just about every sector, the Restore is definitely the device for you.
The biggest selling point that Sprint is marketing with the Samsung Restore is the fact that it is made largely out of recyclable materials. In fact, according to Sprint, 27% of the Restore’s outer casing is made with recycled plastic. Add that to the fact that when the device is ready to go to cellphone heaven, 87% of it will be recyclable, a pretty amazing feat when comparing it to your traditional handset.
Like I said before, this phone isn’t very feature extensive and won’t compete with any sort of smartphone on the market today. The most exciting features included with the Samsung Restore is the slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 2 megapixel camera and the ability to log onto services like Facebook, MySpace and YouTube. Unfortunately, we won’t see Android getting crammed onto the device, bummer.
Getting back to the evrionmntally friendliness of the device, Sprint says that the charger included with the Samsung Restore will be Energy Star complient and the whole device will meet their EcoFriendly criteria.
I can’t help but think this device will sell surprisingly well given the recent oil spill currently happening in the Gulf of Mexico. Perhaps people will be looking to lower their environmental footprint by purchasing the Restore. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
