Rumor: Dreamcast Games Coming To Xbox Live [New Rumor Has Crazy Taxi, Sonic, Other Dreamcast Games On Xbox Live]
A rumor claims that we’ll see Dreamcast games coming to the Xbox 360 in form of downloadable titles via the Xbox Live Arcade. True or not, this is pretty much in line with what we’re seeing from Sega recently, as they’ve been on somewhat of a retro kick lately, licensing their older games for resale everywhere, including Genesis games on the PC via Steam.

This rumor comes to us via Fudzilla, who says their sources tell them that we’ll see an announcement at E3 from Microsoft who will announce Dreamcast games on Xbox Live Arcade. The games specifically named were “Crazy Taxi” and “Sonic Adventure”, although these will reportedly not be the last Dreamcast games we’ll see on Xbox Live. According to the rumor, the rights have already been secured for a few more games, and more are in the pipe if the first few sell well.
Interestingly enough, the Sega Dreamcast ran Windows CE. Microsoft claims the Xbox is running “Xbox 360 System Software” but I highly suspect that that’s a modified version of Windows CE, so perhaps porting these games can be relatively easy.
These Dreamcast games are said to be full XBLA titles, not downloadable games like the Xbox Classics, so they’ll have Gamerscore points each, if you care about such things.
Microsoft’s E3 press conference is looking to be quite epic, if you believe the rumors. We’ll see:
- Project Natal’s public unveiling, we’ll find out the retail name, plus proper games shown off (confirmed by Microsoft)
- Hulu on the Xbox 360 (rumored)
- Dreamcast games on Xbox Live Arcade (rumored)
June 14th is the date on that Microsoft E3 press conference. Stay close to your computer that date, we’ll surely cover all of those announcements if they’re real.
