Amazon Kindle Update 2.5 Delayed For 'Small Adjustments'
If you own an Amazon Kindle and you were looking forward to getting your device updated to version 2.5 then we have some missed news for you (both good and bad) as the .5 Kindle update, which was rolled out to a number of Kindle users, has been pulled pending ‘small adjustments’. The good news is that the aforementioned ‘small adjustments’ are a response to user feedback so should result in the 2.5 firmware being even better though we cannot tell you in which ways as Amazon are remaining wholly tight-lipped concerning exactly what these ‘small adjustments’ are and what they are designed to achieve/fix/enhance.

What we can let you know, however, is what the Kindle 2.5 Update will offer based on what was already known – just in case you’re not fully versed with what’s coming.
Amazon list the Kindle 2.5 update enhancements as follows:
- Collections: Organize your books and documents into one or more collections.
- PDF Pan and Zoom: Zoom into PDFs and pan around to easily view small print and detailed tables or graphics.
- Password Protection: Password protect your Kindle when you’re not using it.
- More Fonts & Improved Clarity: Enjoy two new larger font sizes and sharper fonts for an even more comfortable reading experience.
- Facebook & Twitter Posts: Share book passages with friends on Facebook and Twitter directly from your Kindle.
- Popular Highlights: See what the Kindle community thinks are the most interesting passages in the books you’re reading.
Sounds good? Obviously something wasn’t quite as good as it could/should have been otherwise such ‘small adjustments’ would not be necessary – still it’s nice to know that Amazon are working away at making the 2.5 update everything those that experienced it already hoped it would be.
There’s no word from Amazon at this juncture concerning the release date of the revised Kindle 2.5 update though Amazon have confirmed that they’ll be rolling out the update to more Kindle users ‘over the coming weeks’.
