New Videos on iPhone, Adobe’s Flash, Tablets & More, All Coming from Steve Jobs at D8
After three years, Apple’s CEO, Steve Jobs, decided it was time to make another official appearance at the D8 Conference. He talked to Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher about all things Apple and we have a few videos that show you some of his best quotes and responses to questions from the public attending the show.

Apple, Microsoft and Adobe
Steve Jobs started talking about Apple surpassing Microsoft in market evaluation. Although that’s an impressive turning point in Apple’s history, it looks like “it doesn’t matter very much” to them, and they will certainly not be happy with just that. What’s next then, Apple? Beating Google in every area that compete against you?
Moving on, Steve Jobs tried to explain, again, why Apple and Adobe can’t mix when it comes to Apple mobile devices like the iPhone and the iPad. And in the end he did say that “people seem to be liking the iPad” since Apple has been selling one every three seconds from the moment the iPad was made available in stores.
Apple and the lost iPhone
You’ll definitely like this particular bit showing Steve Jobs’ take on the whole lost/stolen iPhone. He doesn’t say that much about those iPhones showing up overseas but the one that was lost in the USA has an “amazing story” that could be used to base a movie on: “it’s got theft, it’s got buying stolen property, it’s got extortion, I’m sure there’s some sex in there.” While that’s going to be a very boring movie, we’ll move on to the next video from All Things Digital, but not before telling you that Apple will not “let it slide”.
Apple and Google
Google apparently decided all of a sudden to compete against Apple. Steve Jobs says that Apple is not going into the search business despite having purchased Siri. And Google products are not going to be removed from the iPhone just yet: “Just because we’re competing with somebody we don’t have to be rude!” Of course we know that Apple and Google do occasionally meet up for a quick coffee but we still believe the rivalry between them will only go up, as Google is also trying to rule Earth as we know it.
Apple, AT&T and Verizon
The following video shows you Steve Jobs answering to a consumer not happy with AT&T’s network. While Apple has no control over the way AT&T upgrades its network it looks like Apple is in constant talks with the carrier and knows where AT&T is heading when it comes to upgrading its whole infrastructure. What the video doesn’t show is that Steve Jobs said during the interview that an iPhone heading to two different U.S. carriers would be a good thing although he never confirmed the Verizon iPhone.
Apple and iAds
Steve Jobs told the D8 audience why Apple wants to control iAds and the way developers and/or publishers monitor the performance of the ads that show in their apps. Apple is apparently pissed off at analytics companies that can tell whether or not new products are being tested in Cupertino and it wants to better protect the privacy of consumers that don’t know that certain apps contain analytics code that the consumers might not agree with in the first place. We’re certainly going to hear more about iAds once it becomes available, so we’ll definitely be back to tell you more about Apple’s performance in the ad business once iPhone OS 4.0 is out there.
Apple and Apple TV
Apple TV is still a hobby for Apple. According to Steve Jobs, many have tried to offer various set-top boxes but that’s not enough to make the consumer buy your product. Google will see that too in a couple of months and that’s surely something we’ll keep tabs on. It will be interesting to see if Google will be able to prevail where Apple failed before or not.
So there you have it, folks, Steve Jobs’ interview at All Things D explains, although briefly, what Apple’s CEO is willing to publicly say about a bunch of Apple-related products and issues. What did you think of his performance?
