Motorola Flipout With Android 2.1 Officially Announced
The Motorola Flipout smartphone revealed itself in a series of images last month, and as of today it has been officially unveiled. As for the reveal we saw last month, it was almost accurate. But either way, the Flipout will be another Android handset heading to Europe and is expected to arrive in Q2 2010.

So Q2 2010, sounds like a release and carrier announcement should be coming any day now. In the meantime, lets review the specs and details of the handset.
First things first, the Motorola Flipout will be available in a variety of colors which includes Licorice, Fairway Green, Raspberry Crush, Brilliant Blue, Poppy Red, Saffron and White. Though it was noted that the colors would be “country-specific.” In other words, depending on where you live, you may not be able to get your preferred color.
In terms of features, the Motorola Flipout is going to be running Android OS 2.1 with MOTOBLUR and a five row QWERTY keyboard that flips out.
- 2.8 inch QVGA touchscreen display (320 x 240)
- 512MB internal memory
- microSD card slot with support for cards up to 32GB in size
- Wi-Fi
- aGPS
- 3 megapixel camera with digital zoom and video recording
- FM Radio
- Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
- 3.5mm headphone jack
- USB 2.0
- 1170 mAh battery
Additionally, the Flipout will ship with a 2GB microSD card pre-installed.
In terms of size and weight, Motorola seems to have packed quite a bit of features into a tiny package. The Flipout measures in at 2.64 x 2.64 x 0.67 inches and weighs in at 4.23 ounces.
Moving past the hardware and back into the software for a moment — the Flipout will offer a complete Google experience which means you can expect to find all of the Google goodies including Gmail, Google Search, Google Maps and access to the Android Market.
Finally, and the one disappointing part is that pricing was not revealed. That said, we expect some carrier announcements to follow and the pricing is likely to be included with those.
