OnLive Offering One Free Year For Those Who Pre-Order [Streaming Gaming Service To Offer One Free Game, One Year Free To Early Adapters]
OnLive, the streaming gaming service, is giving their early adapters a bit of a treat. The first 25,000 who pre-registered for the service will be getting the first year free and will be receiving a free game from the service. Don’t bother rushing to their site to pre-register now, as we understand that they’ve already gotten over 25,000 people to do so.

OnLive is a service being aimed at those who don’t have a high-end computer or modern gaming console. The games you play are being rendered at their server farms, the video will be beamed to your computer screen, and the input controls for the game will be beamed back to their server. They’ve gotten plenty of big publishers to sign on. The service will cost $14.95 a month, in addition to the cost of the games.
Signing up for the service for regular users will net you the first three months for free. Although, the lucky first 25,000 who signed up will be, as aforementioned the first year free. Not a bad deal, and they’ll even be getting a free game on the service too. It even looks like you’ll have you’re pick of ANY game on the service, as opposed to picking from a selection of lesser games.
So, how’s OnLive going to be? We’re nearing the June 17th date when OnLive goes live. Ryan Shrout at PC Perspective was in the beta and posted his opinions of it before the OnLive lawyers shut him down. Mr. Shrout seemed to like the service, although he did say there was noticeable network lag for some games.
At launch, the service will be out only in the United States. But, they’re making deals with phone companies across Europe to bring the service to the Eurozone. If you don’t want to build a $2,000 computer or buy a $500 PlayStation, but can afford a $14.95 monthly fee, OnLive may be for you.
