With more and more people ditching their desktop computers and moving to the most portable alternative possible, it’s no secret that tablet computers are getting a lot of recognition as of late. While it wasn’t the first tablet computer on the market, Apple’s iPad really brought the form factor into the spotlight having computer users around the world imaging up all sorts of possiblities regarding its use.

While the iPad is a pretty capable device, some wonder if it will ever be able to actually replace a traditional laptop. Running iPhone OS, the iPad lacks key features that you would expect from a laptop. Well, other companies are taking note that the tablet form factor is the tech industry’s new cash cow and MSI is the latest company to show off one of these devices.

Luckily, MSI didn’t leave all of the computing up to Windows 7 instead opting to bundle their Wind Touch UI with the device making finger navigation much easier.

Intel’s 1.66GHz Atom Z530 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 32GB SSD, 2 USB ports, an HDMI port and a webcam all come standard. According to the specs this device is to be more powerful than the iPad with a faster processor, more RAM, and ports beyond your typical iPod connector.
Luckily, MSI isn’t jacking up the price in leui of these beefed up specs with MSI employees telling Engadget that the device will drop fro $499 at a currently unannounced date. Since Computex is still underway, expect a whole slew of these tablets from various companies in the coming days.
