BlackBerry Bold 9700 Coming To India
I know we have a few readers in India, so this should be a pleasant surprise to a lot of you. RIM’s current top-of-the-line BlackBerry model, the Bold 9700, is coming to India. Not only will the phone be coming to multiple carriers, but it’ll be coming in different colors as well.

The white-colored BlackBerry Bold 9700 recently made its debut in Canada on Rogers, and now it’s coming to India, as well as the traditional black-and-white model that was the first from BlackBerry. The Bold 9700 will be offered from Airtel, Aircel, BSNL, Idea Cellular, Loop Mobile, MTNL, Reliance, Tata and Vodafone.
Not sure how many carriers are in India, but that certainly sounds like most of them. Of course, like any civilized country (read: not the US), India probably uses GSM so Indian cell phone connoisseurs are probably familiar with using unlocked phones.
For those who are unfamiliar with the elite Bold 9700, here are her stats:
- 2.8-inch TFT screen
- 3.2-megapixel camera
- 624MHz
- 256MB RAM
- 3G connectivity
It’s probably the best BlackBerry on the market currently, although the newer CDMA BlackBerry Bold 9650 has double the RAM at 512MB.
Indian customers interested in the Bold 9700 should expect it to cost around Rs. 31,990 + VAT ($690).
