ASUS Officially Announces Their Eee Pad Lineup [ASUS Unveils the Windows 7 Powered Eee Pad EP121 and EP101TC]
Well, what did I tell you? With Computex underway another company has come forth to show off one of their tablets, this time being ASUS. Back in April we told you that the Eee Pad from ASUS would be shipping sometime in July. Well, the device may not be coming in July but the company has just come forth to officially announce the device and give us some specs and images to drool over until its inevitable release.

Much like the recently debuted WindPad 100 from MSI, ASUS’ Eee Pad is a tablet computer running Microsoft’s Windows 7 operating system. However, there are some pretty hefty differences. First and foremost, the Eee Pad EP121 is said to feature a 12-inch capactivie touchscreen display, and Intel’s Core 2 Duo CULV CPU. There’s no telling what it’s clocked at but considering it’s dual core it’s safe to say it will generate quite a bit more power than the WindPad.
Additional specs include a reported 10-hour battery life, a keyboard dock (just like Apple’s iPad keyboard dock), a front facing webcam for video conferencing and at least one USB port. Make note these are both things that iPad owners have been begging Apple for ever since its release.
Additionally, ASUS has come forth to show their 10-inch EP101TC which features a 10-inch capactivie touchscreen display and will supposedly ship running WIndows Embedded Compact 7, leading us to believe that the EP101TC will be priced much lower than the EP121.
Unfortunately, ASUS didn’t give us an exact release date but according to Engadget the entire lineup of Eee Pads will be priced between $399 to $499. As with the price, we have no official release date either with ASUS saying that the first Eee Pads won’t hit retailers until Q1 2011.
What do you guys think of these Eee Pads? Would you buy one? How about over the iPad? Let us know.
