Sirius XM Radio App Now Available For Android Smartphones
Back in late April we learned that Sirius XM Radio had plans to release an app for Android smartphones, and at the time they promised that it would come available in May. Well, its still May (albeit barely) and true to their word — the app is now available for download.

In theory, this is good news for any Sirius XM listener that also happens to be carrying an Android handset. I say in theory only because the availability and ability to install may be limited for some users. As of now a quick search of the Market does not show the Sirius XM app available. Still, that could change as the day goes on.
In the meantime the app is still available, just by way of the Sirius XM website. In fact those interested have two options available. First method is to surf on over to www.siriusxm.com/android on your phone, the second method is by visiting that same website on your computer and entering your email address. Those that choose the computer method will then get a download link sent by email.
In terms of device support, it appears to be for almost all phones. That almost is key because certain phones such as the Motorola Backflip on AT&T will not be able to do this just yet due to the lack of ability to install non-Market apps. Otherwise, the Sirius XM website lists support for the Droid Incredible, Droid Eris, Hero, G1 and Nexus One. It also makes mention of “other Android smartphones” which comes with the note that “the application should function, but has not been tested by SIRIUS|XM. (Note: Requires OS 1.5 or higher).”
Finally, go ahead and download so you can begin listening to “over 120 channels of the Sirius XM programming you love.” Of course, as many will already know — Howard Stern is not one of those 120. Still, its nice to see this app come available.
