iPad Not Appealing To All

Survey Finds That 62% Of Those Interested In iPad Don't Buy It

Retrovo.com, an online shopping portal, conducted a survey of 1,000 users, and found that although a large number of the users were interested in the iPad, when push came to shove, only a small number of them actually bothered buying the tablet device.

Fudzilla is reporting on Retrovo’s survey results. Retrovo claims that their 1k sample size for the survey evenly covered all genders, ages, incomes and locations of American users. They inquired if users were interested in any of the following: netbooks, notebooks or iPads.

The survey found that 78% of the 1000 sampled said that they had been or are interested in the Apple iPad. Unfortunately for Apple, when those surveyed were asked what they had purchased, only 30% had purchased the iPad. Just under one third of the sample size is still a ton of people buying the iPad, but that means (by our calculation) that 62% of those once interested in the iPad passed on it.

Admittedly, this isn’t a perfect scientific sampling, and if money is an issue, you can get netbooks cheaper than the iPad. We’d estimate that the technophile community is torn on the iPad, with those who like the device and praise it’s functionality, and the netbook-friendly crowd, who feel the iPad is overpriced and underpowered.

In just a few hours, the iPad will be out worldwide, so anybody who wants one can have access to one. Have you considered buying an iPad but didn’t? Have you bought an iPad and replaced a netbook?
