HTC Legend With Android 2.1 Heading To Australia By Way Of Vodafone & 3 Mobile

HTC Legend Will Be Free On-Contract With Vodafone Australia, Available As Of June 3rd

HTC has announced some new information regarding the HTC Legend. Or more specifically, those in Australia will be able to get a Legend sooner as opposed to later. The HTC Legend is going to come available with Vodafone as well as 3 Mobile.

In terms of an actual release date and pricing, some of that was mentioned. Vodafone customers will be able to get an HTC Legend as of June 3rd. A relatively short wait, but perhaps in a little better news is that the Legend will be free for users on the $49 cap plan. Or for those willing to go contract free, the handset can be purchased outright for $599.

As for 3 Mobile, they have yet to announce a release date or pricing, and as of now it was simply left as “launch dates to follow soon.” Lets just hope that it does not come much after June 3rd, especially with the free price tag that Vodafone is touting.

Now to offer a quick recap on the specs for the HTC Legend itself. This handset is sporting a 3.2 inch HVGA AMOLED display, Wi-Fi, GPS, a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, Bluetooth, 3.5mm headphone jack, microSD card slot and optical joystick.

Additionally, the Legend has Android 2.1, the latest version of HTC’s Sense user interface and a nice looking aluminum casing.

Other features include seven available home screens, the ‘Leap’ thumbnail view for those home screens, Facebook and Twitter integration with HTC Peep and Friend Stream, photo sharing on sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Flickr and video sharing by way of YouTube.

Finally, HTC has also stated the 3 Mobile and Vodafone will be the only two carriers in Australia offering the Legend. Still, if you are looking for another carrier and Android, there is always the HTC Desire which can be found with Telstra.

    1. Legend says:

Android 2.2 has already been released by Google. Its a faster OS and comes with some new features like tethering and improved all round performance. HTC should update the OS firmware level before releasing it in Australia. Otherwise buyers will be wondering why they’re not getting the latest. Google Nexus One(N1) will most likely have the latest OS level so I think buyers opt for it instead.
