Acer Liquid Stream Officially Announced, Pricing & Release Date Remain A Secret [Acer Liquid Stream Will Feature 3.7" AMOLED Display, 1GHz Snapdradon CPU & Android 2.1]

Earlier this morning, Acer officially unveiled their latest Android smartphone. The model is the Liquid Stream and it will be running Android 2.1 and touting a pretty impressive set of specs. The news comes by way of an official press release, though even still, we are being left to wonder a few things. Unfortunately those few items I am referring to are the release date and price. That said, lets take a look at the specs, which fortunately were included.

To begin with, the Liquid Stream will have a 3.7 inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreen display, 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 512MB RAM and 2GB of internal storage. You can also expect to find a microSD card slot and an 8GB microSD card included. Other features will be a 5 megapixel camera with 720p video recording, GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11n and 3G as well as an HDMI out, all in a phone that measures in at 11.2mm (0.44 inches) thick.

Additionally, on top of Android 2.1, you will also find a “completely brand new” user interface which was designed by Acer. The UI is said to “focus on what is essential to users and guarantee a simple and quick access to what matters to them.”

Or what that really seems to mean is that users will be able to get the information they need and get it quickly. A few of the perks with this user interface include the ability to read information from the lock screen as well quickly launching your favorite apps with one touch, easy app switching with the history panel and “smooth animations and fine graphics.”

The Acer user interface will also come touting three types of predictive keyboards, a smart dialer and “redesigned” contacts list. There was also mention of the more obvious items such as support for Facebook and Twitter.

And last but not least, this is one that should make music fans smile a bit. The Liquid Stream will feature an app called Spinlets which is a free streaming service that will let you “browse and listen to major music labels and record companies” and of course, the ability to share those tracks that you find on social networking sites.
