Kyocera Zio Smartphone Rumored For A Boost Mobile Release

Boost Mobile Rumored To Be Launching The Android-Based Kyocera Zio M6000 Smartphone By Way Of Best Buy

The Kyocera Zio M6000 smartphone was officially unveiled back in March during CTIA Wireless, and that announcement was quickly followed with news of the Android based Zio heading to Cricket Wireless.

Well, as of now the Kyocera Zio is not expected to come available with Cricket until July, which means we are still waiting on that one. But more recently we are now hearing chatter of the Zio also coming available with Boost Mobile. Lets be clear with this one though — as of now this is just a rumor. That said, the details are coming courtesy of Android Guys who are reporting that a “source” told them the Zio would be available with Boost Mobile.

And a little deeper on that rumor, it was not only said that the Zio will be available with Boost Mobile but that it will be sold exclusively through Best Buy. No official word yet, however in terms of price, it is expected to fall somewhere between $169 and $219. Additionally, the Kyocera Zio will be available on a $50 all you can use calling and data plan.

Granted this was not the most popular phone announcement to come out of CTIA and given it was heading to Cricket, the news remained relatively quite. In that case, a recap of the specs seems to be in order. The Zio is sporting a 3.5 inch WVGA touchscreen display with a 480 x 800 pixel resolution, 600MHz Qualcomm MSM7227 processor, 512MB of internal storage, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3 megapixel camera and Android version 1.6.

Granted this is not the highest spec’d or most exciting Android smartphone on the market, after all, its no Incredible but for roughly a $200 unsubsidized price and a $50 all you can eat monthly plan it seems pretty tempting.

And with that I am anxious to see this release with Cricket, if for no other reason than to hopefully see some hands-on reviews hit the web. In the meantime we will be digging for some more on the release with Boost.
