Apple's New iPhone All But Officially Confirmed to Feature Video Chat

After Numerous Leaks, Rumors Say that Apple Will Air a Commercial Featuring Video Chat

June 7th, the date that Apple will begin their World Wide Developer’s Conference (WWDC) is quickly approaching. More importantly, this is the conference that Apple is expected to announce their latest iPhone, a device that has seen numerous leaks over the past couple of months. While we already officially know that this device will feature highly sought after things like multi tasking thanks to Apple’s forthcoming iPhone OS 4, the hardware side of things are a bit more of a mystery.

If you checked out just about any of the leaks of the supposed iPhone 4 (4G, 4th Gen, HD, whatever you want to call it) you’ll undoubtedly notice the front facing camera featured on the device. A front facing camera capable of video conferencing was one of the things that iPhone haters wanted most out of Cupertino. Well, it’s no surprise that Apple has yet to say anything about the phone’s hardware considering they have yet to officially announce it but some new evidence has been brought to light further proving that the new iPhone is to feature video chatting.

According to rumors, the director behind American Beauty, Sam Mendes, is set to direct an all new Apple commercial in the coming weeks. This is all fine and dandy and not out of the ordinary but a bit more digging says that Sam Mendes directed Apple commercial is to feature a segment with a mother and daughter video conferencing using the new iPhone’s front facing camera.

If all of this evidence wasn’t enough for you, Engadget noticed that on Twitter there was not one, but two instinaces of an actor and actress Tweeting about auditioning for a forthcoming Apple commercial directed by Sam Mendes.

I don’t think there is any question about it; the new iPhone is to feature a front facing camera and if you had a hard time believing it before, all of the above mentioned chatter should make it much easier.
