Samsung Messenger Touch Messaging Phone Announced For US Cellular, Available Today For $49.95 [Samsung Messenger Touch Will Feature 2.6" Touchscreen Display, 2MP Camera & Full QWERTY Keyboard]

Just like that, US Cellular has added another messaging style handset to their available lineup of devices. The latest model is the Samsung Messenger Touch and its priced at $49.95.

With that and keeping true to the messaging phone features that you would expect, the Messenger Touch features a full slide out QWERTY keyboard along with a touchscreen display. Breaking those down a little more, the QWERTY is a four-row deal with a shared number/letter pad on the left hand side of the keyboard. In terms of the display, that measure in at a respectable 2.6 inches.

Other features of the Samsung Messenger Touch include 3G support, a 2 megapixel camera with video recording capabilities, a music and video player, Bluetooth 2.0, voice recognition, microSD card slot with support for cards of up to 16GB in size and the Samsung TouchWiz user interface. As for the TouchWiz UI, that offers some widgets that allow the user to customize and personalize their phone. There is also a widget tray for your most frequently used widgets as well as several pre-loaded widgets for games, social networking apps and wallpapers.

You can also expect to find a battery that is said to be able to offer up to 5 hours of talk time and a weight of 3.81 ounces. In terms of size, the Messenger Touch measures in at 2.12 x 4.13 x 0.59 inches.

Finally, the Samsung Messenger Touch is available with US Cellular as of today and priced at the previously mentioned $49.95. Though, it should be pointed out that the price comes after a mail in rebate and along with a two year agreement.

In the end, this may not be as exciting as the EVO 4G or yet to be announced next-gen iPhone, but sometimes its hard to argue with decent specs and a fair price. After all, some people just want a phone for talking and simple messaging and when that is the case, the Samsung Messenger Touch may be a viable option to consider.

Actually, I believe the correct name of this phone is the Samsung Messager Touch, not “Messenger”. It’s “Messager” according to the U.S. Cellular website.

i absolutely hate this phone. the messanger sucks. i have been dying to get a new phone. there are so many little things about the phone that tick me off. you cant type on the screen, it takes forever to transition, it screws up all the time. it has 3 wallpaper screens, for the apps i guess, and it is always switching, the music player, you have to go through this long process to get to all your songs, and after you select a song, you must go back through the process again to pick another song. also, the camera takes forever, almost everything takes forever to load or come up. you’ve got 4 backgrounds to worry about, the lock screen and 3 main screens. it has a “shortcut” button that takes a differant route to certain things on the phone, but it has no point. it just takes up room. its got a big black button and all it does is go back a page. also it doesnt have the time on the top. you have to go to the lock screen to see the time. or you can set it on one of 3 wallpaper screens as a widget, but it moves around a bunch, whenever its in your pocket. and it covers up your wallpaper photo. to delete a ringtone or ccontact you have to press the delete button then go through and pick which ones you want gone, instead of being able to do one by one. its got 1000 speed dials, and to lock your phone, you have to go to menu, settings, phone settings, security, type your code in, then press lock phone now. you have to go throught that everytime to lock your phone. its pathetic!! i promise there are sooo many more things wrong with this phone. i just cannot explain them all. i would not recommend this phone to anyone!
