Pandigital Novel eReader Announced, Available in June For $199.99 [Pandigtal Novel eBook Reader Will Feature Barnes & Noble eBookstore Support, 7" Color Touchscreen Display & Wi-Fi]

And just like that we have another eBook reader that has been announced. The latest model is called the Novel and its coming from Pandigital. The nice, or at least one of the nice parts about this particular ereader is that it will arrive with support for the Barnes & Noble eBookstore.

But perhaps a little more pressing than the book store that the Novel will support is the pricing and availability. Pandigital has stated that the Novel eReader will be available with “several national retailers beginning in June.” As for that price — $199.99, which not the cheapest but also not the most expensive either.

Moving on to the features, and this is where it gets interesting, well a little more interesting anyway. Not to mention, the $199.99 price tag gets justified by the display, it measures in at 7 inches and sports an 800 x 600 resolution. Its also touchscreen and full color.

Other features of the Pandigital Novel include Wi-Fi, 1GB of internal storage, a SD/MMC card reader for additional storage, orientation sensor and rechargeable battery that is said to offer up to 6 hours of reading time. Ok, so admittedly, that six hour battery life is not the best, but I guess it could be worse.

And for those Android lovers, the operating system that is powering the Novel is Android, which comes along with the ARM 11 Mobile processor. Also because of the features such as that color display and Android, you can also expect other goodies such as a web browser, email application, audio player, appointment calendar and alarm clock.

Otherwise, the Novel is coming with support for ePUB, PDF and HTML file formats as well as the previously mentioned built in support for the Barnes & Noble eBookstore. In terms of size and weight, those will come in at 5.5 x 7.5 x 0.5 and 16 ounces.

Finally, the Pandigital Novel will have a miniUSB port or charging and connectivity and will come sporting a white exterior with a matching desktop stand.
