“Halo: Reach” Coming on September 14, 2010 [“Biggest Blockbuster Game of the Year” Announced for Xbox 360 Exclusively – Halo: Reach]

What better way to start the week than by talking about video games, especially since the title we’re looking at right now is the latest Halo episode. “Halo: Reach” is already seen as the “blockbuster game of the year” which is heading exlusively to Xbox 360.

The game will launch worldwide on September 14, 2010 with Japan getting it only on September 15 for some reason.

“Halo: Reach” is a prequel to the best-selling video game franchise and it’s surely going to sell quite well when it hits stores this fall. Phil Spencer, corporate vice president of Microsoft Game Studios at Microsoft Corp. said about the new game:

“Halo: Reach” is the culmination of a decade of ‘Halo,’ a franchise that has become a global entertainment and pop-culture touchstone. Just as ‘Halo: Combat Evolved’ catalyzed the success of the original Xbox to define a decade of entertainment, ‘Halo: Reach’ will push the boundaries for what’s possible in video games and help make 2010 the biggest year in Xbox history.

Microsoft’s press release stresses on the fact that “Halo: Reach” is already a very Xbox 360 title with more than 2.7 million fans of the series registering for taking part in the “Halo: Reach” beta on Xbox LIVE. That’s three times more gamers going through the “Halo: Reach” beta than the “Halo 3” beta. In just two weeks these players competed in 13 million online games for a total of 16 million hours of online action which equals 1,826 years of total play time. Definitely impressive.

“Halo: Reach” is already available for pre-order with prices starting at $59.99 for the standard edition, $79.99 for the limited and $149.99 for the legendary edition. Sure the legendary edition costs almost $100 more than the regular edition but it will come with a 10-inch-tall, “hand-painted and individually molded Noble Team statue” from McFarlane Toys.
