Elgato EyeTV HD "Ultimate DVR" Released, Priced At $199.95 & Currently Available

Elgato Announce The EyeTV HD DVR, Will Record & Stream Live TV To Your Mac, iPhone or iPad

Elgato have recently announced the latest in Mac friendly DVR lineup with the introduction of the EyeTV HD DVR. This device comes as a small set top box, which will work with a cable or satellite connection and allow users to record and edit as well as stream content to a Mac, iPhone or iPad.

So far that all sounds good. The price of the EyeTV HD DVR is $199.95 and it comes with the EyeTV 3 TV software for Mac, infrared remote control, EyeTV infrared channel changer and quick start guide as well as a variety of cables to include USB, component, stereo audio and breakout cable for composite and S-Video inputs. Of course, you also get the EyeTV HD recording set top box.

As for the features of the EyeTV HD, it will allow you to watch, record and edit from either a cable or satellite connection. It is also HD compatible and will work with your premium channels. The recordings are captured in H.264 format and can be viewed on your Mac as well as iPhone, iPod touch and iPad using the Eye TV app. Another perk with the mobile streaming comes in with the “unique dual-format capture mode” which is described as being able to record in regular mode as well as the iPad and iPhone format at the same time.

Additionally, you can convert your recordings to an iTunes friendly format which means you can easily pre-load them on your device for later playback during times when streaming will not be possible. Other features include the ability to capture SD or HD formated video from other sources such as a camcorder or VCR as well as east archiving with Toast Basic.

Finally, speaking as to when and where you can pick up an EyeTV HD — they are available now and can be found at the Elgato Online Store and the Apple Store.
