New Samsung I8920 Omnia HD 2 to Come with 4-Inch Super-AMOLED Touchscreen Display? [Samsung Rumored to Work on the Samsung Omnia HD2; Will It Run Windows Phone 7 or Symbian 3?]

Samsung is a powerful player in the mobile business but we’re still waiting for it to grab the spotlights at some point this year. Everyone is talking these days about Android Froyo, the HTC EVO 4G, the HTC Droid Incredible and the new iPhone.

There’s no hot Samsung phone out there ready to capture our imagination. Sure the Galaxy S is a great device but it hasn’t really been able to match the Droid Incredible and the EVO 4G when it comes to Android buzz.

Besides Android, Samsung also has bada, Symbian and Windows Phone 7 plans and we’d love to hear more about them. A recent rumor is saying that the company is working on a new Omnia phone, the Samsung I8920 Omnia HD 2 (wow that’s a long name) and it would definitely be interesting to see it run Windows Phone 7 and be unveiled by the end of the year.

We have no actual details about a potential release date and pricing details for this phone but in case it will be Samsung’s first Windows Phone 7 handset it will be unveiled at the same time HTC and LG launch their WP7 creations.

The Omnia HD 2 (let’s simply call it that) is rumored to come with some hot specs and features but the list below also says the phone is going to come with Symbian^3 on board. But here’s what we know so far:

  • 4 inch Super Amoled screen
  • Symbian 3 OS
  • 12mp camera with Xenon and Led flash
  • 720p video recording at 30fps
  • 16/32 GB internal memory
  • GPS
  • Wi-Fi b/g/n
  • Bluetooth 3.0

The specs sure sound interesting enough although we’d rather have this phone run WP7 instead, in case it would meet Microsoft’s minimum requirements for Windows Phone 7. Does Samsung have any secret Windows Phone 7 project similar to this rumored Omnia HD 2?

Should the Omnia HD 2 become a real Symbian phone later this year, what would you choose? The Nokia N8 or the Omnia HD 2?
