MSI Wind U160 Netbook Gets Marginal Upgrades

Popular Netbook From Netbook Masters MSI Gets DDR3 Memory And Faster Atom Processor

MSI’s netbook, the Wind U160, came out earlier this year, but the lil’ computer (not to be confused with the Litl Webbook, which we love here at TFTS) is getting a very marginal upgrade from the way it first came out this January.

The Wind U160 will now come with an Intel Atom N455 processor. It previously came with an N450, clocked at 1.6Ghz. The new processor gives it a very modest .06GHz upclock, but the new processor should help with power consumption, too. The new U160 will also come with DDR3 memory, as it previously came with DRR2 memory.

Are netbooks looking any more attractive to you? Here’s the full stats for the MSI Wind U160 netbook as you’d order it today:

  • Intel Atom N455 (1.66GHz)
  • 1GB DDR3
  • Windows 7 Starter Edition
  • 10-inch display
  • 250GB Hard Drive

The original MSI Wind U160 sold for about $399 typically. Expect the improved model with the (slightly) faster processor and faster RAM to cost about the same. If you’re going shopping for it, new official name for the new variant is “Wind U160DX”.
