Virgin Interactive To Return [Sir Richard Branson Restarting Famed Virgin Interactive For "Online Only" Games, Details Coming At E3]
Back in the 80′s and 90′s, a lot of awesome video games came from the Virgin Interactive banner. The company went under back in 1999, but now, billionaire Sir Richard Branson is allegedly bringing back the iconic brand. The details will be announced this June at the E3 gaming show.

Fudzilla is reporting that Virgin Interactive is coming back with an “online only interactive initiative,” and the people their talking to are suggesting that the new Virgin Interactive venture could be more closely related to a steaming service like OnLive or Facebook gaming like Zynga than a more traditional Triple-A publishing title.
Presumably, whatever it is, it would be related to “A World Of My Own”, a digital distribution platform for games that is being funded by the Virgin Group and is looking to knock off Steam as the dominant virtual game distribution platform. “A World Of My Own” or AWOMO, as some call it, is notable from these digital game content platforms because it allows gamers to start playing the game before the entire game is downloaded. Sounds a bit janky, but we haven’t had any first hand experience with the platform (so we’ll give it the benefit of the doubt).
Virgin Interactive published a lot of great games back in the day, including the first Command & Conquer, The 7th Guest and an awesome little PC game called Floor 13. In 1999, the company’s assets were sold to Titus, who made the dreadful Superman 64.
Stay tuned to E3 news next month for more information regarding this alleged new “Virgin Interactive” venture.
